Salmonella enteritidis - Gram-negative, enteric, rod prokaryote; note the polar flagellum. This zoonotic microorganism causes salmonellosis
Clostridium perfringens - Gram-positive, endosporeforming, rod prokaryote. Vegetative and spore stages. One toxin it produces, the alpha toxin, damages cell membranes and is responsible for gas gangrene.
Clostridium botulinum - Gram-positive, endosporeforming, rod prokaryote. Vegetative and spore stages: note the flagella. Causes food poisoning (botulism), wound infections and infant botulism.
Clostridium tetani - Grampositive, rod prokaryote; vegetative and spore stages. Note the flagella. Causes tetanus.
