I’d like to tell you about the INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL CONFERENCE "Fundamental Problems of radio-electronic instrument" (INTERMATIC - 2012), that took place in December 2012, in Moscow. This conference was organized by Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation ‘MIREA’.

The conference was held in Russian and English languages.

At the conference there were several scientific sections such as Radio Physics, Microsystem Technology, Telecommunications, Security systems. Engineers, lecturers and students from Russia participated in this conference. Perhaps, there were participants from other countries, not only from Russia, but in my scientific section I didn’t heard of such.

In addition to the performances of the participants there was ‘V All-Russian Scientific School-Conference’ within INTERMATIC-2012.

The main goal of the conference was to consider various modern technologies, materials and devices, as well as establishing scientific contacts between students from different universities.

The conference included several lectures of prominent researchers who presented the recent developments in their respective fields of science. Particular interest and active discussion caused such topics as ‘Graphene and topological insulator as a metamaterial for the elements of plasmonics, nanophotonics and photonic crystals’.

The structure of the conference was outlined in the program distributed beforehand. Each participant was allowed 10 minutes for the lecture in the conference hall and unlimited time for any discussions. Everyone had a chance to participate in the discussion and exchange of personal experience.

These conferences provide a unique opportunity to showcase the creativity in preparing presentations to practice and improve communication skills and the ability to explain, to watch the performances of other participants, and to learn new things.
