INTEGRATED LOGISTIC SUPPORT
PART 22: EQUIPMENT CODIFICATION PROCEDURES
Section One. General
0 Introduction
This part of this Defence Standard describes the procedures for the initial stages of the codification of equipment provisioned in accordance with AECMA Specification 2000M (S2000M) or similar procedures. The procedures involve the Contractor responsible for providing Initial Provisioning (IP) data in accordance with Part 21 of this Defence Standard, and are a prelude to full codification under the NATO Codification System (NCS). The full codification process may identify an exact match for items which have been allocated provisional NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) at the initial stage and these provisional NSN may then be withdrawn. This Part shall be read in conjunction with Part 0 and Part 20 of this Defence Standard and S2000M. This Part of this Defence Standard does not affect other codification requirements defined in other Defence Standards and Conditions, eg, Defcon 117.
1 Scope
The scope of this Part of this Defence Standard is to detail the procedures for the data interchange between the Contractor, the National Codification Bureau (NCB) and the Customer which ensure that items listed in Master Initial Provisioning Lists (IPL) are identified by NSN. These procedures do not cover full codification following acceptance of the Master IPL or at other times, as agreed between the Contractor and Customer.
