Section Four. Electronic Documentation Data Base, Data Transfer & Data Control
12 Introduction
12.1 This Section of this Defence Standard outlines the requirements for the provision of an electronic documentation database, the transfer of data between data providers and data receivers and the control of this data. The electronic documentation database will be a CSDB compliant with Part 10 of this Defence Standard.
13 Data Base Structure
13.1CSDB. A CSDB consists of individual DM each of which contains textual and/or nontextual information. The CSDB contains all Technical Documentation data relevant to an equipment. DM are indexed by their DMC and can be extracted to produce the required outputs in hard copy or electronic format by reference to specific elements of the DMC. Each DM contains an issue control mechanism to maintain configuration control of the data base.
13.2Delivered Publication Data Base (DPDB). A DPDB consists of the database, delivered by the Contractor to the Customer, containing all those DM defined in the DMRL.
13.3Final Publication Data Base (FPDB). A FPDB consists of the DPDB with all the necessary links defined. This allows the production of a final deliverable Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) for the end user.
13.4IETP. An IETP consists of the FPDB with all the necessary links implemented and the output formatting instructions incorporated.
