B.B.3 Access
For electronic installations and assemblies (eg radio room, computer centre, portable radio, etc), access points shall be numbered in association with the zoning system detailed above, to the basic rules detailed in S1000D Chapter 2.8. The access point identifier shall consist of the zone number followed by a three letter access reference (letters I and O shall not be used). For smaller electronic assemblies (eg circuit boards), the access code may be used to provide a location matrix, with the horizontal axis numbered from 1 to 99 as the first two characters of the location code and the vertical axis lettered from A to Z as the third character of the access code.
B.B.4 Location Reference
Location references such as ‘left’, ‘right’, ‘clockwise’, ‘upper’, etc shall be applied as viewed from the front of the system, from an operator’s viewpoint. For large fixed systems, location references shall use points of the compass (eg South West) and floors (eg Ground Floor).
Positioning of mounted equipment/items, etc may be identified by location and ‘clock position’ (eg on/off switch, 4 o’clock). For location references on circuit boards and diagrams, the representation shall be such that the main signal/data flow is from left to right.

Operator Information
F.1 Operator Information
This annex amplifies the requirement for Operator Information explained in Section Seven of this Part of this Defence Standard. The use of these requirements shall be specified by the project. The Operator Information applications covering the categories of General Operator Information and Purpose and Planning Information are detailed in the following appendices:

APPENDIX A TO ANNEX F
General Operator Information
F.A.1 General Requirements
This appendix contains the requirement for the content of general operator information to meet the requirements of Part 10 of this Defence Standard. Reference is to be made to the applicable Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) for the scope of information to be provided and to the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) for delivery requirements.
F.A.2 Format and Content
The content of the general operator information shall comply with the requirements of Part 10, Section 3, Para. 9.3.3.3 of this Defence Standard. The output format shall comply with the requirements of Part 10, Section 9 of this Defence Standard.
F.A.3 Detailed Data Module Requirements
F.A.3.1 Introduction
These descriptive Data Modules shall give a general overview of the operator information, its content and structure.
F.A.3.2 General
These descriptive Data Modules shall contain a general description of the system, equipment or platform and associated equipment. The salient features of the system, equipment or platform and its intended use shall be described.
F.A.3.3 Physical Data
These descriptive Data Modules shall supply the dimensions and weights for each item of equipment, which may be handled separately. Where the operational and stowed configurations are different then both shall be shown. Laden and unladen weights shall be given, and where equipments are housed for normal operation in container bodies or packed for transportation in transit cases, the weight of container body/ transit case shall be given. Where the weights/dimensions are significantly different when prepared for air transportation these shall also be given.
F.A.3.4 Description
These descriptive Data Modules shall provide a description of the system, equipment or platform, together with its assemblies, sub-assemblies, major components, cable assemblies, coupling components, etc. The depth of detail shall be sufficient to enable the user to undertake all of the actions described in the applicable procedural data modules.

F.A.3.5 System Controls and Indications
The purpose of information provided within these descriptive Data Modules is to explain clearly the operating controls and instruments necessary for the safe and effective operation of the equipment.
F.A.3.6 Operating Procedures
The information provided within these procedural Data Modules shall detail all operating instructions. The information shall be supplied in a logical format and where the information is of a complex nature, each aspect shall be presented as distinct modules. As there may be considerable variation between the physical build, role and function of different systems, equipment or platforms, prescriptive details for breakdown of the information is not possible. Every system, equipment or platform must be evaluated on its own merits, but a typical format for information is:
F.A.3.6.1 Installation. The procedures required to bring the equipment from its transit or dormant state to a state whereby it can be used.
F.A.3.6.2 Use. The procedures required to use the system.
F.A.3.6.3 Testing. The procedures required to test that the system is functioning correctly.
F.A.3.6.4 After Use. The procedures required when the equipment is no longer to be used including preparation for transit.
F.A.3.7 Destruction of equipment
These Data Modules shall cover both disposal and denial of the equipment.
F.A.3.7.1 Disposal information shall include casting parameters, obsolescence and disposal procedures. Disposal procedures for hazardous components and materials shall also be included.
F.A.3.7.2 Denial of equipment is determined in STANAG 2113 as removal from a threatened area, rendering unusable by removal of parts, contamination (other than by NBC means), immobilisation or partial or total destruction of military equipment or supplies. The instructions for denial are to be included in sufficient detail to ensure denial of its use to the enemy but, if possible, not to preclude its later use by allied forces. The following details are to be included in all denial instructions:
F.A.3.7.2.1 Decision Process. The decision for denial of the equipment when subject to capture by an enemy will be taken by the user arm, when in the judgement of the local commander concerned, such action is necessary in accordance with orders of, or policy established by, the relevant authority.

F.A.3.7.2.2 Means and procedures. A brief statement is to be given as to how the authorised destruction can best be carried out.
F.A.3.7.2.3 Priorities. The priorities for denial or destruction of equipment must be stated, showing essential items first.

APPENDIX B TO ANNEX F
Purpose and Planning Information
F.B.1 General Requirements
This appendix contains the requirement for the format and content of purpose and planning information to meet the requirements of Part 10 of this Defence Standard. Reference is to be made to the applicable Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) for the scope of information to be provided and to the Contractual Data Requirements List (CDRL) for delivery requirements.
F.B.2 Format and Content
The content of the purpose and planning information shall comply with the requirements of Part 10, Section 3 Para 9.3.3.3 of this Defence Standard. The output format shall comply with the requirements of part 10, Section 9 of this Defence Standard.
F.B.3 Detailed Data Module Requirements
F.B.3.1 Introduction
These descriptive Data Modules shall give a general overview of the purpose and planning information, its content and structure.
F.B.3.2 General
These descriptive Data Modules shall contain a brief description summarising the design criteria which have been employed to fit the equipment for its role, together with a brief description of the important characteristics of the equipment.
F.B.3.3 Performance
These descriptive Data Modules shall include all performance data which may be required to assess the suitability of an equipment for a specific application. The nature of the information required will vary widely for different types of equipment and, therefore, cannot be specified in detail.
F.B.3.4 Manning Requirements
These descriptive Data Modules shall be limited to a statement of manpower requirements for transportation and basic operation.

F.B.3.5 Associated Equipment
These descriptive Data Modules shall be detail equipment which is operationally associated with the main equipment in its normal primary role. If all such equipment is essential to operation, it shall be so designated but if only part of the associated equipment is essential to operation then the items which are essential shall be designated.
F.B.3.6 Packaging
These descriptive Data Modules shall include brief details of the containers and special packaging methods (if any) used in preparing the equipment for long term storage or transportation.
F.B.3.7 Transportation
These descriptive Data Modules shall include, as appropriate, air transportation data, shipping tonnage, rail loading data, bridge classification, fording floatation and immersion capabilities, towing vehicle requirements and axle loading.

Contract Requirements
