Прочитайте и переведите текст. Some New Details About Nobel, Alfred Bernhard (1833-1896)

1. What is the main invention of A.Nobel?

2. What brought the scientist a large fortune?

Alfred Nobel, an inventor, was A wealthy man and his great fortune was made through his achievements as well as his commercial talents. He was born in the family of the Swedish naturalist and engineer Immanuel Nobel. The family left Stockholm in 1842 to join the father in St. Petersburg. Educated mainly by tutors, young Nobel was a complete chemist at 16 and could speak English, French, German, Russian, and Swedish. He left Russia in 1850. Returning to Sweden, Nobel began the manufacture of the liquid explosive*. One day the factory blew up, causing the death of his youngest brother, Emil, and four other persons. The Swedish government did not allow to rebuilt the factory and Nobel, who was called a "mad scientist", began making experiments to find a way to minimise the danger of working with nitroglycerine. A chance discovery led him to improve dynamite. Granted patents for dynamite in Britain (1867) and the United States (1868), he further experimented and developed a more powerful form of dynamite.

His world-wide interests in explosives and large holdings in Baku oil fields of Russia made him a wealthy man but reguired him to travel almost constantly. He never married, but there was a strong belief that he had a wife and that Nobel never established a prize for mathematics because his wife had had a love affair with a mathematician.
