ABOUT THE EDITOR
Giovanni Concistrè, MD
Ospedale del Cuore “G. Pasquinucci”,
Fondazione Toscana Gabriele Monasterio, Massa, Italy
Email: gioconci@libero.it
Dr. Giovanni Concistrè is currently an adult cardiac surgeon at the Ospedale del cuore
“G. Pasquinucci”, Massa, Italy. He received his Degree cum laude in Medicine at Perugia University, discussing the following thesis: “Clinic and echocardiografic follow-up of
patients with the aortic valve replacement with a stentless bioprosthesis Toronto SPV”. His interest in research developed over the years and when his father underwent surgery for coronary bypass grafting, he decided that he wanted to pursue a career in cardiac surgery. In October 2019, he got a Degree cum laude in Cardiac Surgery at Genova University, discussing the following thesis: “Left ventricular reshaping in ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy: Genoa’s experience”. In 2010 he worked at Department of Cardiac Surgery and Heart Transplantation of San Camillo Hospital in Rome and subsequently he became Assistentarzt at Deutsch Herz Zentrum in Munich and at Klinikum Nurnberg, Germany. From February 2013 to April 2014, he worked at Clinica S. Anna in Catanzaro, Italy. Concistrè is the author of numerous publications in scientific journals. He has always been interested in sutureless aortic bioprostheses, presenting also numerous works at international conferences.
His 2nd Level Master’s degree in “Innovations in Cardiac surgery: advances in minimally
invasive therapeutics” was obtained at Scuola Superiore S. Anna, Pisa. Concistrè is a Reviewer for Archives of Medical Science, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Journal of Heart Valve Disease, European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. From May 2014, he is cardiac surgeon in Massa, Italy.
