their appearance compared with those who have a symme­trization procedure after radiation, where the contralateral breast is typically reduced or lifted while the radiation typi­cally precludes and enhancement of the ipsilateral breast.
Furthermore, oncoplastic surgery can be performed in a primary, immediate, or delayed fashion. To avoid a mastec­tomy if margins are inadequate, a delayed approach can be oered with minimal risk to delaying any subsequent adju­vant care. Additional technology is on the horizon that can provide intraoperative margin assessment that will increase the success rate of BCS at the initial denitive surgery, or devices such as BioZorb that can aid in locating the lumpec­tomy bed if a re-excision is required.
