Foreword
Oculoplasty and Reconstructive Surgery Made Easy is really what Dr Ashok Garg, a proliferative writer and his co-editors—Essam El Toukhy and Dr B Nassaralla—have realized by editing this book and by offering it to the clinicians.
The editors of this book did a tremendous job to get an up-to-date
overview on trends of oculoplasty and reconstructive surgery in external eye diseases such as congenital eyelid deformations, eye injuries, lacrymal disorders, pterygium; orbital diseases such as congenital and acquired tumors, orbital infections and injuries; and aesthetic surgery with CO2 laser, endoscopic dacryorhinostomy, sling surgery and evidence-based update on pediatric oculoplasty have been discussed in excellent manner in this book.
Besides, accompanying DVD will guide the practitioner towards the application of the techniques proposed in this book.
The multispecialist approach enriches a book directed at the surgeons in their daily practice. The chapters are clearly written and nicely illustrated.
Indeed, Ashok Garg and the publisher M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi, have to be congratulated for this outstanding book, and have, by doing so, contributed in an important way to the medical

and surgical approach of oculoplasty and reconstructive surgery.
I do hope that the many readers of this book will experience the benefit of having access to this important volume.

Ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery is an exponentially growing field in ophthalmology. Information on new diagnostic tools, surgicaltechniques, treatment regimens are temptations for any academician, who would love to bind together and share the knowledge with other colleagues, however, it needs great ambition, diligent work and effort to realize it.
It is a great honor for me to have the opportunity to contribute to Dr Ashok Garg’s and his co-editors, Dr Essam El Toukhy’s and Dr B Nasaralla’s, Oculoplasty and Reconstructive Surgery Made Easy with a chapter and it is a greater honor to receive a request to write a foreword to this book.

Preface
Oculoplasty is an important clinical branch of ophthalmology which has seen advances in the last one
decade. Oculoplasty and Reconstructive Surgery is the surgery of eyelids, eyebrows or eye orbits. This surgery may be performed in order to improve cosmetic appearance, functions and comfort to the patients. It also refers to specialized reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of external eye abnormalities which may be present by birth or acquired later by accident, tumors or aging, etc. Oculoplasty surgeons also perform aesthetic treatments and surgery which are latest advancements and fashions to improve the cosmetic appearance. Blepharoplasty, botox injection and dermal filler injections are the excellent examples of this surgery.
This book has been written with the aim of providing latest information about various oculoplastic diseases and reconstructive procedures in a comprehensive and lucid manner. Thirty-three chapters of this book covering all aspects of eyelid disorders, lacrimal diseases, ptosis, various orbital disorders and recent advances in aesthetic ophthalmoplasty are written by international and national oculoplastic experts. Accompanying DVD will provide insight into various surgical oculoplasty procedures by the masters of this field.
We are grateful to Shri Jitendar P Vij (Chairman and Managing Director), Mr Tarun Duneja (DirectorPublishing) and all staff members of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi who took keen
