This is a very common situation which may be associated with a congenital condition, a lack of development, or an undergrowth (Fig. 58.7). It plays a major role toward the shape of the neck especially in profile. During liposuction of the neck, this must be taken into consideration. A chin implant may be required in addition to or instead of liposuction to improve this contour of the neck in profile.
