The short history of Novosibirsk
The official date of Novosibirsk's foundation is April 30 (May 12), 1893. On this day, the first batch of workers arrived at the site of the future city to erect housing for the builders of the railway bridge over the Ob River. 26
Initially, the village was called Alexandrovsky, then Novo-Nikolaevsk in honor of Emperor Nicholas II.

Novonikolayevsk began reconstruction in 1921 at the start of Lenin's New Economic Policy period (1921–1928). The city formed part of Tomsk Governorate and served as its administrative center from 23 December 1919 to 14 March 1920. Between 13 June 1921 and 25 May 1925, it served as the administrative center of Novonikolayevsk Governorate, which was separated from Tomsk Governorate.The city received its present name on 12 September 1926, -Novosibirsk, which, in the Russian language, translates roughly as "New Siberian [town]". After the Soviet Union abolished governorates in 1929, the city served as the administrative center of the Siberian Krai until 23 July 1930, and of West Siberian Krai until 28 September 1937, when that krai was split into Novosibirsk Oblast and Altai Krai. Since then, it has served as the administrative center of Novosibirsk Oblast. The Monument to the Heroes of the Revolution, erected in the center of the city in 1922, became one of the chief historic sites.
Novosibirsk is the largest city and administrative centre of Novosibirsk Oblast and the Siberian Federal District in Russia. As of the 2021 census, it had a population of 1,633,595, making it the most populous city in Siberia and the third-most populous city in Russia after Moscow and Saint Petersburg. City districts:

Main places of interest in the city that you see: Novosibirsk Zoo, the multi-facility scientific research complex of Akademgorodok (1957) (Avenue named after Academician Lavrentyev was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "the smartest street in the world." The avenue, which is 2.4 kilometers long, has the largest number of scientists, and about two dozen scientific institutes),Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre(1931-1941), Bugrin Bridge(2014), Museum of World Funerary Culture, The house with watch, Apartment building, «The silent centre» (the name of the one of the parts of historical center of Novosibirsk, it includes cozy streets of Gorky, Revolution, Oktyabrskaya, Chaplygina, Kommunisticheskaya, Shchetinkina, part of Sovetskaya Street).
Сhronologically, Novosibirsk was the fourth city in Russia in which a metro system was established, after Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Nizhny Novgorod. It was therefore also the first city in Siberia. The Novosibirsk Metro was opened in 1985. As of 2022, the system has 2 dual track lines (Leninskaya (red) and Dzerzhinskaya (green)) and 13 stations.
