The Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics was founded in 1921 as the V.N. Podbelsky. Moscow Electrotechnical Institute of Public Telecommunications (MEINS). In August 1924 MEINS, along with other Moscow technical institutes, was introduced into the Moscow Higher Technical School (MVTU), forming a department of weak currents of the electrical engineering department of the school. In 1931 - the Institute was named the Moscow Electro-Technical Institute of Communications (MEIS).In 1938 it was named the Moscow Institute of Telecommunications Engineers (MIIS). With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (October 1941) MIIS was evacuated to Tashkent where it was temporarily joined by the Odessa Institute of Telecommunication Engineers (OIIS). After two years of staying in Tashkent in October 1943 MIIS returned to Moscow where, in a very short period of time, it became a rather large educational institution satisfying the needs of the country's defense. In 1946, MIIS, as well as other higher education institutions of communications, was briefly transferred under the jurisdiction of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education and was renamed once again into Moscow Electrical Engineering Institute of Communications. In 1971, for its 50th anniversary, the Institute was awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour for its great services in personnel training and research and development. In 1992, by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, MPEI was reorganized into the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUSI).
MTUCI has several departments: "IT", "Radio and Television", "Networks and Communication Systems", "Digital Economy and Mass Communications".
I study at the faculty "Networks and Communication Systems" which was formed by merging two faculties ("Automatic Telecommunications" - AES and "Multichannel Telecommunications" - MES) in 2004.
The faculty consists of 5 major departments:
Multichannel Telecommunications Systems (MTS);
Directional Telecommunications Environments (NTAs);
Communication networks and switching systems (CS&SC);
Metrology, standardization and measurements in infocommunications (MS&I);
General Theory of Communication (GTC).
My faculty trains communication specialists in different areas.
