**A graph**

The graph presents data relating to the ten largest car brands in Russia by sales dynamics in 2020. A random sample of car sales for each brand was surveyed, and the sales figures for the years 2018, 2019, and 2020 have been plotted on the graph. The x-axis indicates the car brands, and the y-axis indicates the number of cars sold.

The graph shows the sales for ten car brands: Skoda, BMW, UAZ, Haval, Geely, Chery, Suzuki, Changan, FAW, and MINI, across three years: 2018 (light pink), 2019 (orange), and 2020 (brown). Skoda’s sales rise from around 80,000 in 2018 to 90,000 in 2020, a growth of 9% and 7%. BMW’s sales increase from 30,000 in 2018 to 35,000 in 2020, up by 17% and 3%. UAZ shows a slight decline, from 20,000 in 2018 to 19,000 in 2020, down by 4% but up by 5% from 2019. Haval’s sales soar from 2,000 in 2018 to 10,000 in 2020, a dramatic rise of 282% and 41%. Geely’s sales also grow rapidly, from 2,000 in 2018 to 8,000 in 2020, up by 186% and 61%. Chery’s sales plummet from 10,000 in 2018 to 5,000 in 2020, a decline of 84% and 78%. Suzuki’s sales grow from 5,000 in 2018 to 7,000 in 2020, up by 13% and 29%. Changan’s sales multiply from 1,000 in 2018 to 3,000 in 2020, a rise of 153%. FAW’s sales drop from 1,500 in 2018 to 500 in 2020, down by 86% and 77%. MINI’s sales rise slightly from 1,000 in 2018 to 1,200 in 2020, up by 8% and 1%.

Graphs are drawn by plotting points on them and then drawing a line to join adjacent points. If there are multiple bars on a graph – separate bars, for example, for different years – they do not intersect as they are side by side. Bars that are grouped together never intersect.

Graphs show how sales increase or decrease. The numbers rise, grow, fall, and drop, as seen with Haval and Geely’s dramatic rises, Chery and FAW’s sharp declines, and Skoda and BMW’s steady growth. The verbs rise, grow, fall, drop, and decline, like increase and decrease, are followed by "in" to explain what is rising or falling (e.g., a rise in car sales). Other verbs used about growth include double, soar, multiply, appreciate, and exceed.
