SPEAKING 3

1. "Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

This quote by William Shakespeare means that greatness can come to people in different ways. Some people are born into privilege or leadership, such as royal families or heirs to powerful positions. Others work hard to achieve greatness, like inventors, scientists, or athletes who dedicate their lives to their craft. Lastly, some people unexpectedly find themselves in great positions because of circumstances, like a person stepping into a leadership role during a crisis.

An example of being born great is Prince William, who was born into the British royal family. For achieving greatness, think of Marie Curie, who worked tirelessly to make groundbreaking discoveries in science. And for having greatness thrust upon them, consider Malala Yousafzai, who became an advocate for education after surviving an attack simply for standing up for girls' rights.

2. Think of a time when you had high expectations or hopes about smth or someone. Or time when someone had high hopes for you.

The announcement about the opportunity for an internship in China filled me with excitement and high hopes. I saw this as a chance to immerse myself in a new culture, enhance ɪnˈhɑ:ns my language skills, and gain ɡeɪn invaluable experience. The idea of traveling abroad for an internship felt like the ultimate ˈʌltɪmɪt test of my hard work and dedication ˌdedɪˈkeɪʃən in my studies. I knew this opportunity could shape my future in profound ways, and I was determined to prove myself worthy. I prepared intensely, focusing on my studies and building relevant skills, all while imagining what life in China might be like. This experience was not just about the internship itself but also about living up to the expectations of my family and myself. In the end, my expectations were met.

3. The Great Lakes, the Great Wall, The great Barrier Reef: have you been there, which places would you most like to visit, what other places in the world you most line to visit?

I’ve never been to the Great Lakes, the Great Wall, or the Great Barrier Reef, but they are all incredible places I’d love to see someday. Each of them is unique in its beauty and significance.

However, the places I’d most like to visit are Switzerland, Lake Baikal, and several Asian countries. Switzerland fascinates me with its breathtaking mountains, peaceful lakes, and charming villages. Exploring the Alps and experiencing the country’s natural beauty would be amazing. Lake Baikal is another dream destination—its crystal-clear waters, untouched landscapes, and unique wildlife make it one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I’m also eager to visit Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. Their rich cultures, vibrant cities, ancient temples, and delicious cuisines are so fascinating. Traveling to these places would be an unforgettable experience, full of learning and adventure.

4. Collection

When I was a child, I used to collect issues of a magazine where each edition included a mineral in a small box. I loved the idea of getting something tangible and unique with each issue, and over time, I built up a nice little collection of different minerals. It was exciting to see what the next magazine would bring and to learn about the different stones. It felt like I was discovering a new little treasure every time.

I also know people who have collections as adults. Some of my friends are really into K-pop, and they collect photo cards of their favorite artists. They’re very passionate about it, and it’s interesting to see how much effort they put into finding rare or special items for their collection. It’s not just about owning the cards; it’s also about being connected to something they love and share with others in the fan community.

I do think collecting is about love. When people collect something, it’s because they feel a strong connection or fascination with it. Whether it’s minerals, photo cards, stamps, or anything else, it’s often a way to express one’s interests and passions.

However, I personally think collections can sometimes be a waste of time and money, at least for me. While I admire other people’s dedication, I prefer to spend my resources on experiences rather than objects.

If I had the money to indulge in a collection, though, I would collect various items from China. I love Chinese culture, so I’d be interested in collecting traditional symbols, small figurines, or even unique photo cards. Each piece would feel like a connection to the culture and its history.

As for gender, I don’t think it plays any role in collecting. Collections are all about personal interests, and they can appeal to anyone, regardless of gender. What matters is the passion and joy it brings to the person collecting.
