5. Your experience of a summer internship

One of the key experiences recommended during your time as an undergraduate is doing an internship. Gaining work experience is key for boosting your employability, especially as a business student.

China is one of the most popular countries not only as the point for university studies, but also for internships. Chinese history and culture are really rich and impressive, Chinese are very passionate about preserving its centuries-long hermitage. Now China is a modern and developed state, which occupies a leading position in a number of scientific and technical areas.

The internship in China is an opportunity to gain experience in leading companies, learn more about Asian mentality and explore the culture and the country. I undertook a 4-month internship at a Mudanjiang normal University in China. It was online-internship, because the borders between Russia and China were closed, because of coronavirus. So, my classmates and I couldn't completely to soak up the atmosphere of this country, but despite this, we still enjoyed this internship.

It all started with the fact that we filled out student profile. It includes some information about student, his birthday, name and surname, in what country does he live and so on. Then, the experts on the Chinese streaming us into groups, depending on our language proficiency. That's how our studies began.

Day after day, we studied at 2 universities, it was quite difficult to study, we had to meet tight deadlines, have a holiday job, consistently show ongoing resilience, be able to have an approach to challenges. All this should be possessed by students who want to have a highly paid prestigious job in the future.

Our curriculum was standard, we learned Chinese in the morning and afternoon, and in the evening, we joined online lessons at Moscow University. I had to rote learning all the new information, then to process the information and be able to apply this knowledge in the life. Some students prefer to learn at their own pace, but sometimes it could lead to lagging behind the curriculum and student had a bad grade. Some of us were probably whiz-kid, and even managed to let their hair down or to live it up.

The purpose of my participation in this internship was to learn about Chinese culture and improve my language proficiency. I hope in the future this experience will give me an advantage in job hunting, as well as the opportunity to work abroad with a confident language base.
