I’m analyzing the story «A sad story», written by George Sheffield. The genre is a short story. The narration is interlaced with dialogs. The development of the plot takes place in the form of a dialogue in which the main character shares his feelings. The main themes of the story are other people don't care about other people's problems and another idea is that a person came up with a non-existent reason for himself, for which he allowed himself to stop doing things and give up or every person needs support and help, if a person does not have support in life, then it can be easily broken.

The story tells us about the doctor and the artist. The story began with their acquaintance and continued with a dialogue in which the artist talks about his problem in life. In addition, throughout the story, one can see how the doctor is trying to express his opinion on the artist's problem, but this can’t be done. In my opinion, the artist was initially negative about the result of this conversation, but he continued to talk about his life, otherwise the doctor would not be able to share his feelings. Next, the artist tells how he began to draw, then there was a creative crisis, money was needed and he began to draw not what the soul requires, but what buyers demand. Most people know that in every creative profession, the soul is important, which is reflected in creativity. If the artist does not paint from the heart, then his paintings will not make such an impression as they could be. I think that his paintings did not bring him profit, because he did not paint what he really wanted. For the same reason, he wilted and gave up. In the end, he decided to give up creativity and lie on the bed doing nothing. I am sure that this decision was hard for him, because enough effort, energy and attempts were made to make his work in demand. The story ended with the fact that the doctor turned out to be a buyer. Perhaps this is what he was trying to say throughout the story, but the artist needed moral help so much that he could not stop. I think that this buyer will give an impetus to the artist in continuing his career, give him the hope that he has lost. In life, sometimes it is important that someone believes in you and in your strength.

I can say, that the ending of this story is open, because i want to believe that the artist will achieve success, his work will become in demand, and he will draw only what his soul requires.
