8. Sybil Vane’s role in the novel (Comment on Sybil’s love to Dorian and to her art)

Sybil Bane is one of the important characters in Dorian Gray's life. She is his first love whom he has met in the theatre where she played. It is a third-rate theatre. Dorian describes Sibyl, like the most beautiful creature. She is in love with art. Acting is her meaning of life. Sybil devotes herself to acting and the heroines she plays. She successfully plays the roles of many Shakespearean heroines. When she plays, it's impossible to take eyes off. Dorian fell in love with Sybil because she could skillfully transform into the images of Juliet and Rosalind and deeply portray their feelings. But is their love real?

Dorian loves her image, her heroines, but not her. It's hard for me to say whether Sybil really loves Dorian. For a long time, she didn't know his name and called him Prince Charming. But Dorian isn't the only man whom she calls like that.
