TOPIC 11 «Your freshman’s experience and impressions»

During our studies at high school, we are thinking about our future studies at university. I was sure that I‘d study foreign languages, because I liked and I like them a lot. Therefore, I became a freshman. I remember very well my first day at our faculty. I felt strange emotions for me, everything was new, and everything was interesting. My first month as a freshman was like a big shock. My English level was low and at phonetics classes, I felt that I have been an alien from another planet. It was hard for me to understand the material, but I worked hard and day by day, it became easier for me. I met many good people here. I have an excellent group. As to my studies and my hopes, I can say that I am satisfied. I feel that I improved my English; the proof is that now, at the end of the first semester I read original books in English. Of course, I can not say that it is easy for me, but one year ago, it was just impossible. Besides, I have other observation. The first thing that I noticed was the workload. It was really heavier and more intense than I ever experienced before. Throughout all of my experiences and expectations of the university, I guess I have learned a lot. Although I still have many experiences ahead, I feel that I have finally got my mind focused on the right things. Some disciplines are very interesting for me, such as English, grammar. The most important experience that I have had is my educational freedom, no teachers screaming at you to be in class. I learned that were big men and women now, were not going to be treated like babies anymore. I also learned that your parents are no longer responsible for your actions, if you really screw up one night it's consequences are all on you and nobody else. The complete control over my academic future has really put a lot of pressure on me, I never before could say forget class or work today and lets go out.
