is incorporated in the basic design of the ABWR- type MCR panels.

  1. The functions of the MCR panels include those of the second generation MCR panels.

  2. One main control console and one wide display panel replace the one main and two auxiliary control benchboards of the second generation MCR as MCR control benchboards.

  3. The following functions are added to support operators.

-Automation of the standard operations immediately after a reactor scram

-Enhanced annunciation system (Layered

structure for easier identification)

-Automation of control rod operation

The ABWR-type MCR control benchboards are comprised of a main control console and a wide display panel, the conceptual configuration of which is illustrated in Figure 2.6.13. The extent of automation in each of the three generations of MCR panels is shown as a comparative chart in Table 2.6.3. Automation of control rod operation and automation of the standard operations immediately after a scram are employed in the third generation MCR design.
