  1. Use of psa for safety management in the shutdown state

Carrying out PSAs for plant shutdown state allows the risks of core damage at various plant states to be understood, where a reactor plant is shutdown and the systems and components undergo inspection and maintenance or are not in the stand-by state during the shutdown.. Using the risk information obtained through such PSAs in the shutdown state for events with relatively higher risks, voluntary activities of the operator are being promoted to enhance both safety management and shutdown state safety. Alternative core cooling water injection for mitigating abnormal consequences, preparation of operating procedures to insure measures for core cooling or planning of shutdown procedures referring to the risk information contribute to enhancement of safety at plant shutdown state.
