Chapter
4 Operation and Maintenance of BWR Plants
Operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants (NPPs) are
performed based on legislation and regulations such as the Order by
the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)
the "Rule for the Installation, Operation, etc. of Commercial
Nuclear Power Reactors" pursuant to the Reactor Regulation Law
and Article 54 (Periodic Inspection)
and Article 39 (Maintenance of Electric Structure for Business Use)
of the "Electricity Utilities Industry Law". Specifically,
an Operational Safety Program for reactor facility is established
for each power generation unit and approved by the National
Government, various kinds of rules, standards, and documented
procedures are developed based on the
