Main points (in the order you said) with:
•topic sentences
•conversation markers – 1st, 2nd, another … etc (pause before saying these)
•your opinion / different points
•backup information – reasons, quotes, facts, statistics

Conclusion
•Pause before the conclusion to give it more importance
•Restate main points
•Can end with a suggestion or future claim
•Finish strongly
•If your teacher can remember your talk 2 hours later – that’s excellent!
Way of Speaking
Important:
•DO NOT READ YOUR SPEECH!!!!!!
•Paraphrase into your own words
•Loudness
•Speed
•Clarity
•Intonation / pauses
•Be aware of time so you don’t have to rush
•Practise difficult vocabulary and names
Recap:
•Organised talk with catchy start
•Paint a picture / use visuals
•Relevant examples and facts (referenced)
•Read the marking criteria
•Appropriate slides, not over the top
•Use body language to enhance your points, not distract the audience
•Clear and interesting voice
•Involve the audience if possible
•PRACTISE
Overcoming Nerves
•Practise in front of a mirror
•Time your speech
•Record it and listen for places to improve
•Have notes
•Pretend you’re confident (or someone else)
•Take a deep breath and let it out slowly to start
•Look above everyone’s heads
•Don’t look at audience - turn and start straight away
•Have a friend ready with time warnings/ prompt cards
•PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE
