Task 1 Writing – Structure
This is an outline of how you should organise your task 1 writing.
Paragraph 1: Explain what the graphs / charts are about. Paraphrase the question
e.g. The graphs show/ reveal / compare etc. Include relevant information like dates, terms of measurement etc.
Paragraph 2: Describe the details of the graphs / charts. Explain general trends first followed by more specific details, picking out significant details. Remember to include figures.
Paragraph 3: if there are two graphs or charts, describe the second, pointing out any relevant comparisons.
Note: a conclusion is not necessary. You may include a concluding sentence if necessary but it is not a requirement.
