Famous people from Altai Krai

My grandfather, Pyotr Leonidovich Mironov

Honored Artist of Russia, sculptor and muralist Pyotr Leonidovich Mironov was born on April 13, 1932.

He was born in Leningrad. During the Great Patriotic War, he was evacuated with his family to Tomsk. However, in 1945, Peter Leonidovich returned to his hometown and entered the Leningrad Architectural and Art College.

10 years after studying and serving in the army, in 1955, he moved to Barnaul. In 1962, Mironov was admitted to the Union of Artists of Russia. This and the next decade will be a period of search and formation of a young artist for the sculptor.

At this time, he manages to work in the workshop of Isaac Davidovich Brodsky, who created a sculpture of Lenin on Sovetov Square.

In 1966, the first sculpture made by Mironov will appear in Barnaul. On the eve of the 59th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, a monument to the famous partisan Kira Baev was unveiled.

And from 1965 to 1971, Pyotr Leonidovich worked on the creation of the sculpture group "Farewell" — a mother escorts her son to war. This artistic image in Barnaul was entirely dedicated to the fallen soldiers during the Great Patriotic War.

Another equally famous monument, created by Mironov in 1982, is located in front of the Agrarian University. According to the original design, the pedestal was supposed to consist of monolithic polished granite blocks of dark red color. However, real opportunities have made their own adjustments. And the pedestal for Lisavenko was made of polished blocks, semi-blocks and facing plates. The bust itself was cast in bronze at the Mytishchi Art Casting plant. In 1978, Mironov was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

During his 37-year activity in Altai, Pyotr Leonidovich created many works of art in the field of monumental and easel sculpture.
