Сочинение

"The catcher in the rye" is a novel by American author Jerome Salinger and is one of one hundred world books. It is written on behalf of a 16-year-old boy named Holden and frankly describes his heightened perception of American reality and his rejection of the common canons and morals of modern society.

«The Catcher in the Rye» was a book I had wanted to read since I was in the 11th grade. At the time, I saw it with a classmate who was reading it in class and at recess, and I had no idea what it was about. However, I was so attracted to its title. There was a feeling of freedom and independence in it, a long-long field comes to mind, the wind is softly stirring the bunches of rye, and you stand above all this splendour and admire, looking straight into the abyss. I also associate the name with the abyss, with the man who seems to be jumping over the abyss and we do not know if he will fall or jump over it?

A little about the plot: the protagonist is sixteen and, in this period, things happen to him, there are problems he has to solve.

The problems involve the following topics: Family, love for one's neighbours, ordinary love, comparing one's peers and those who are older, alcoholism.

Many teenagers may compare themselves with this boy. Why? Because the boy is representative of our age, but their way of life is a little different from ours. A bit rambunctious or something.

What I like about this boy is that he sees the truth and resists lies. He cannot understand why people lie, why people are so fickle. Why, for example, can't a boy their age gets into a hobby club because he looks a little different from others?

The main problem of this boy is to find someone who understands him. When he's "over the abyss" of problems, he tries to talk to someone. But no one.

What comes to him is the realization that he needs to move on.

If you like that kind of book, of course I suggest you read it. But I don't advise you to read it for people older than twenty-five, as I don't think you will be very interested. I recommend this book to people from fourteen to eighteen years old.

You could say that the whole book is built on a daily narrative. I think the main character is a rebel. It's like he goes against the system every time-solving problems/disasters in an unconventional way.

I liked the book, but not as much as I would have liked it when I was 14 or 15. The syllable is simple and sometimes you can even find some not so nice expressions. It's an easy read. This book makes me realize that we are not the only ones who feel and perceive the world in a special way. We are not the only ones who feel this way, millions of people living on Earth think this way and our feelings are not unique, but everyone has his own perception of things, of the world, of humanity. Somebody sees a chasm and is afraid to fall there, and somebody sees a beautiful field where rye grows and does not care about the rest. Read good books, friends!
