I had never heard of the author and had never read his books, so my introduction to R. Riggs started with Strange Children's House. I haven't regretted my choice one bit. The book is great! I didn't think I would like a children's book so much. The fascinating plot, the unusual characters, the vintage photos, it all so captivated me and eventually the book was read in one day.

Someone will say this is a book for teenagers, but I don't agree with them, I think "House of Strange Children" as well as Harry Potter is suitable for any age. The book captures you, takes you on an unusual journey, you wander through a different time with the characters, you encounter amazing things and people, and it's great. I'll be honest, this book was the first in a sci-fi series in a few years that I felt like talking about. For the first few minutes of reading, I couldn't understand what the pictures were all about? They're actually kind of creepy and give off a not-so-pleasant impression.

But as you get deeper into the book, everything falls into place. And the pictures don't seem creepy and scary anymore, they are exactly what you expect to see. It's this idea of Rensom's that I'm madly in love with. I think it's original and interesting. After all, when you look at such photographs, you begin to think: why do they look like that? How did they live? And what was happening in their time? A lot of questions arise. And Rensom offers us his story, the story of strange children.

"House of Strange Children" is the story of unusual kids endowed with different abilities, a beautiful girl has two mouths, a boy can raise the dead. The story is unusual and interesting, it takes you on a journey through time, some moments are frightening, surprising and make your heart beat faster.

I would like to mention one more thing in the book that I noticed. It's the main character Jacob's attitude towards his grandfather. A boundless love and respect. Respect for the older generation, a genuine interest in everything Jacob was told and shown by his grandfather. I really liked that the author presented the attitude towards the old man in such a way in the book. How the grandson admires and is proud of him.

I think the author wanted to remind us how we should treat our elders, because we have increasingly forgotten to treat our grandparents with respect and patience. It made me think about this.

In conclusion, I would like to say that I enjoyed the book House of Strange Children very much, as if I was immersed for a short time in a fairy tale, in another world. This children's book was very interesting to me, I read it with pleasure, with interest and with great joy. When I put it down, I was left with a warm feeling and a good feeling of continuing the story of these strange children. I would recommend reading it because even adults need to become children sometimes, immerse themselves in the tale and overcome dangers and anxieties.
