СТРАДАТЕЛЬНЫЙ ЗАЛОГ (THE PASSIVE VOICE)

Залог (Voice) показывает отношение действия к субъекту или объекту, выраженному подлежащим. Выделяют действительный залог (The Active Voice) и страдательный залог (The Passive Voice). Действительный залог показывает, что субъект или объект, выраженный подлежащим, выполняет действие.

I read the book. – Я читаю книгу.

Страдательный залог показывает, что действие производится над субъектом или объектом, выраженным подлежащим.

The trees are planted in the forest. – Деревья высаживаются в лесу.

Страдательный залог часто используется в ситуациях, когда лицо, совершившее действие, или причина совершения какого-либо действия, не известны или не имеют важного значения. Конструкции страдательного залога часто применяются в научной и технической литературе.

The ways of treating this disease were described decades ago.– Способы лечения этого заболевания были описаны несколько десятилетий тому назад.

При указании на лицо, совершившее действие, используется предлог

by.

The package was delivered by me. – Пакет был доставлен мною.

Когда указывается инструмент, с помощью которого совершилось действие, используется предлог with:

The tree was cut with an ax. – Дерево срублено топором.

Страдательный залог используется, как правило, с переходными глаголами, т.е. глаголами, имеющими дополнения в действительном залоге: например, build (строить), drink (пить), write (писать), clean (чистить), take (брать), lose (терять) и др. Непереходные глаголы не требуют после себя дополнений: think (думать), swim (плавать), come (приходить), fly (летать)

и др.

Глаголы, обозначающие состояние субъекта или объекта, не используются в страдательном залоге: например, resemble (походить на к-л, иметь сходство), become (становиться), lack (испытывать недостаток), have (иметь) и др.

Ряд глаголов, которые применяются в действительном залоге, обозначают пассивное действие: peel (снимать кожицу, чистить овощи фрукты), sell (торговать, продавать), wash (мыть), wear (быть одетым, носить (одежду), burn (жечь, гореть) и др.

Страдательный залог образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола to be и третьей формы смыслового глагола – причастия II.

Формула страдательного залога: to be + V

В предложении вспомогательный глагол to be будет изменяться в зависимости от лица и числа подлежащего, а также – времени. При этом причастие II смыслового глагола остается без изменений.

Отрицательное предложение образуется путем добавления частицы not к первому вспомогательному глаголу. При образовании вопросительного предложения первый вспомогательный глагол ставится перед подлежащим.

The tree will not be examined tomorrow. Are the logs being transported now?

В разговорном английском также употребляют глагол get вместо be в страдательном залоге.

Our classroom gets cleaned every day. – Нашу аудиторию убирают каждый день.

Такая конструкция применяется, как правило, для описания действий, которые носят незапланированный характер или описывают какие-либо изменения, происшествия:

His family got killed in a plane crash. – Его семья погибла в авиакатастрофе.

Конструкции, содержащие страдательный залог, переводятся следующими способами:

1.Глаголом «быть» в сочетании с краткой формой причастия II.

The analyses were made a week ago. – Анализы были сделаны неделю назад.

2.Глаголом, оканчивающимся на –ся, -сь

The case is being analysed. – Случай анализируется.

3.Неопределенно-личным предложением.

The patient was given some drugs. – Пациенту дали лекарства.

4.Глаголом в действительном залоге, если в предложении есть дополнение с предлогом by.

The solution was prepared by a laboratory assistant. – Лаборант приготовил раствор.

Ванглийском языке часто употребляются конструкции, включающие модальные глаголы и страдательный залог: can be done, must be removed и т.д.

This work must be done immediately. – Эта работа должны быть сделана незамедлительно.

При переводе предложения из действительного в страдательный залог происходит ряд изменений:

– Дополнение в действительном залоге будет подлежащим в страдательном.

The forester examined the old trees.

The old trees were examined by the forester.

– Если в предложении действительного залога есть два дополнения, то любое из них может быть подлежащим в страдательном залоге.

The post graduate student gave the supervisor the results of the analyses. The supervisor was given the results of the analyses by the post graduate

student.

The results of the analyses were given to the supervisor by the post graduate student.

– Если сказуемое в действительном залоге было образовано сочетанием модального глагола с инфинитивом, то при переводе в страдательном залоге сказуемое будет выражаться сочетанием того же модального глагола, но с инфинитивом в страдательном залоге.

You must follow up the study.

The study must be followed up by you.

Страдательный залог не употребляется во времени Future Progressive, а также во всех временах Perfect Progressive.

Страдательный залог во временах Simple

Формула: to be + V(3; -ed)

Страдательный залог во временах Progressive Формула: to be being + V(3; -ed)

Форма Future Progressive Passive в английском языке отсутствует.

Do you believe in aliens from outer space? Well, one organization is searching for aliens. They call this organization the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

The search began in 1960 when astronomer Frank Drake set out to detect radio signals from space. He believed that if intelligent beings were out there, they would be using radio, and he might pick up these signals on Earth.

Frank Drake even wrote an equation which we call the Drake equation. This equation estimates how many alien races in our own galaxy might be trying to contact us. His guess is that there are around 10,000!

In 1977, a powerful signal came from deep space. They recorded the signal at the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University. Jerry Ehman, a volunteer and a professor at a local university who was checking the computer the following morning was so startled by what he saw that he wrote “Wow!” next to the signal printout.

Unfortunately, nobody repeated the signal and the scientists were left wondering.

Alien signals are being looked for by millions of people all over the world. “Never before has there been an opportunity for anyone, anywhere in the world, to join the scientific search for intelligent beings elsewhere in our universe,” said Louis Friedman of the Planetary Society.

Protected forests

In Finland, protected forests are classified as either strictly protected or protected. There are also forests where forestry work is restricted.

In strictly protected forests all forestry work is prohibited. In the case of protected forests, careful logging is allowed, for example in the key biotopes specified in the Forest Act and Nature Conservation Act. Careful logging is also permitted in wilderness forests where nature management is practiced. In those forests where forestry work is restricted, logging is not permitted if it conflicts with recreational and landscape values.

Finland’s network of nature conservation areas is based on national conservation programmes. The first national parks and strict nature reserves were established in 1938. Nature conservation programmes were developed during the 1970s, and today vast areas of mires, grassy forests, shorelines, wilderness and oldgrowth forest are protected. Most of these conservation areas are now included in the EU’s ecological programmes.
