Commercial Applications.

The aim of the article is to show the reader the way of CDMA technology development. Description begins from CDMA first field test and ends when it is accepted as new promising telecommunication technology. Also article mentions changes in service providers field is brought by CDMA.

The research method used in the article is description.

Firstly, as the author mentions, CDMA technology was good only as a theoretical development, which, nevertheless, was actively criticized by advocates of existing in that time market solutions.

First massive step was made by Qualcomm with their success in field trials, because the telecommunication market became interested in CDMA. So over time first commercial CDMA network was installed in Hong-Kong after which whole world became interested in CDMA telecommunication technology. A short time later CDMA was claimed as «replacement for current cellular technology».

Day by days CDMA’s quality was being improved. It has many benefits over cellular technology, but main benefit is monetary gain. Precisely speaking, cost for calling outside your local area became constant. Generally speaking, telecommunication networks bills decreased too.

The article describes the period of origin and development of CDMA technology, including time when it bitted in market it direct opponent - cellular technology.

The authors conclusion is that CDMA became a real breakthrough in the field of telecommunications: it solved many established problems in that field at that time, although, initially no one believed in this idea.
