3. Your task
Firstly, each delegate is supposed to be aware of what European Union and the Council of Ministers is. At the debates you are going to work in the simulated Foreign Affairs Council. Get acquainted with the materials from this issue book about the Council.
It is absolutely essential for you to know the topic (see Agenda, Issue Book) in order to debate effectively. We also recommend you to read the news related to the agenda and chronological history of the Syrian crisis.
Each delegate is an expert on the topic discussed and also a representative of one country (Austria, Germany and etc.). Please, search for the information about your country. You may even make up a kind of country profile (location, territory, population, natural resources, manufacture, export, import and etc.). Pay attention especially to the areas related to the discussion topic.
During the debates you will make speeches, ask questions, argue and certainly try to reach consensus all together. You are supposed to propose joint actions of the countries in order to overcome existing challenges. (for example, create special bodies, projects, programs, make sanctions and etc.)
See Issues to be addressed by the participants in the Issue Book in order to know final goals of the debates.
REMEMBER! You should care about the policy of the whole European Union. Your main goal is to reach consensus with other members. Please, make sure your statements and proposals do not only promote your country’s national interests, but work for the EU also.
