Past Perfect & Future Perfect Review

Past Perfect—Use BY THE TIME and ALREADY and change the verb to the past perfect to make a new sentence with a similar meaning. The first one is done for you.

  1. By the time I ate lunch, I had already drunk coffee.

  2. By the time I started college, I had already had a job for 2 years.

  3. I had already eaten breakfast by the time I brushed my teeth.

  4. I had already studied English by the time I took this course.

  5. By the time I finished my test, everyone else had already left.

  6. By the time I got my car, I had already had my license for a year.

  7. I had already applied for business school by the time I got a new job.

  8. I had already got 5 phone calls by the time I went to bed.

Future & Past Perfect—Choose the correct words to complete the sentence. You may need only one word or three or four words. The first one is done for you.
