There are 5 departments at the faculty. The department of “Automatics and telemechanics” trains engineers of 4 specialities. My speciality is “Integrated insurance of information security in automatized systems”. This new speciality is very interesting and highly demanded. It deals with computers, informatics, hardware, software and different information technologies. Students get top quality training in the field of the latest data protection techniques. They investigate information security means in well-equipped labs “Information security” and “Security technical means”. Our graduates get deep and broad knowledge of information protection and security.

Automation of technological processes and manufactures (АТПП)

Last year I finished a secondary school and entered the Perm State Technical University. I always interested in informatics and computers so I chose the electrical engineering faculty. This faculty trains specialists in the fields of hardware and software, computer and mobile communications, information protection and so on. The graduates of the electrical engineering faculty are highly requested. They work at different industrial enterprises, banks, firms, design bureaus and research institutes. Some of them enter a post-graduate course and carry out researches at the faculty departments.

After graduation from the University we can work in many fields of industry: energetics, aviation, machine-building, gas and oil etc.

An electric drive is a complex electromechanical device. Up-to-date electric drives have got intellectual functions permitting self-adjusting of controlling devices. They are based on microprocessor control. Now electric drives are equipped with communication modules interacting with other automation means (sensors, controllers etc.). Therefore any automation is impossible without electric drives.

Students are taught special subjects:

Electric drives of energetic and technological installations;

Electric machines;

Microprocessor control systems and others.

Students investigate mechanical converters and devices for conversion of electrical energy in mechanical form and vice versa. The new laboratory complex of electromechanical systems was opened to develop their professional skills. Specialists of this kind can work in every field of

The world-wide economic development sets an important task of resources saving. Material, informational and intellectual resources are required to carry out any projects and programs. The saving should be achieved on all levels of a product life cycle (designing, manufacture, modernization, utilization). Information technologies are of great importance here.

Nowadays enterprise management is impossible without information support. This information support includes automation of designing processes, automation of enterprise management, creation of electronic maintenance documentation, introduction of automatic systems of spare parts order and so on. It is clear that specialists of this kind are required in each sector of national economy.

Students study different levels of a product life cycle in wellequipped labs. They should be multilateral professionals. I like my speciality very much.

The term “innovation” means novelty (something new) that was successfully realized. It is a final result of Man’s intellectual activity. Innovations should result in efficiency rise of any systems. New information technologies are introduced by specialists of a new kind.

They study special subjects, such as transfert of technologies, management of intellectual property, expertise of innovatory projects and others. Electrical insulation is the basis of electrical engineering. Any electrical device is impossible without electrical insulation. Therefore students get deep knowledge of different insulating materials. They are taught special subjects, such as physics of dielectrics, electrical and optical cables, technology of cable production, power supply, electric drives, theoretical fundamentals of electric engineering and others. Students investigate different capacitors in the laboratory “Fundamentals of capacitor equipment”.

Our graduates work at cable and machine-building plants, powergenerating complexes, research institutes and design bureaus. Many of them work at the Kama cable plant, one of the largest cable plants not only in our country but in Europe as well. I like my speciality.

Nowadays our life is impossible without computing machinery. The great number of specialists is required to design, manufacture and service computers. It is my speciality that meets these requirements.

A heart of any computer is hardware, that is equipment involved in the function of a computer. Therefore, main attention of the syllabus is aimed at computer architecture, computer designing, peripherals and technology of computer manufacture. Such subjects as modelling, microproc-
