Assignment 5: E-Mail: Send an email to a networking contact (i.e. friend of parents, uncle in the business, mentor at work, etc.) to update him or her on your status this semester (i.e. classes you are taking this semester at UNI, recent change in major, internship targets....). Copy the instructor of this course with a blind copy to yourself. The email will be scored on the following items:

Email is correctly addressed.
"From" Line includes your real name as well as your email address.
The email content is concise and complete.

Follow the steps and practical recommendations from Lecture 7, 8, 9. You may also use the material from Internet.
Assignment 7: Website: Insure that you have a professional web presence. An employer should be able to locate a professional, businesslike, and useful website by searching for your name on both Google and Facebook. When you have accomplished this, send an email to the instructor indicating that you are ready to be searched.The assignment will be evaluated on the basis of
businesslike design: color choice, font use, format/design (background, spacing, tables, graphics), images;
communication of businesslike persona (active, sensitive, rational, customer focus, and absence of embarrassments);
accuracy and clarity of content (education, work background, project resources, membership in client organizations);
page utility (workability of links and features).
91
You may use a Facebook or MySpace page or create a website using the hosting service of your choice. (Free web space is available to UNI students; contact the help desk in the ITTC building for further instructions.) Remove any links to sites that you do not want to be associated with your name, and set your privacy controls on social networking sites so that strangers see you as a professional.
