Theme of the master's thesis «Development of a method of impact on staff to decrease occupational injury in RMK "Kazzink" LTD»
The supervisor of the undergraduate: Bakhtin E.A. Senior Lecturer of « The Safety of Human Life and Protection of Environment » Department.
1 Explanatory note to the implementation of the thesis work of a master student
1.1 General characteristics of the work
The thesis is considered methods of impact on staff to decrease occupational injury in Ridder Metallurgical Complex. Complex refinery produces Zinc by conventional hydrometallurgical technology using the sequence of fluid-bed roasting, two-stage leaching with spent electrolyte followed by hydrolytic and cementation solution purification and electrolysis. The main difference is that here the Zinc ferrite residues are treated exclusively in the Waelz furnaces. The plant produces more than 120'000 tpa of high grade Zinc metal and Zn-Al alloys.
“SafeWork”, a comprehensive multi-phased project at Kazzink, was launched in 2013 to succeed the previously implemented Personnel Safety project. Concept of this project is based on the principles of life-saving behavior priority, personal involvement of each employee and changing the attitude of both contracted and own personnel to safety aspects. As a part of “SafeWork” implementation the Company focuses at personnel training. All the employees are trained to identify hazards and risks at the workplace. Also, group risk assessment techniques and methodology are studied.
In the thesis, the main role of changing the attitude of the workers themselves to their own safety and the safety of their colleagues and the methods of influencing personnel to change this attitude are proved.
Zero injuries is the target of SafeWork project.
