  1. Organization and condact of excursions for the audience of various age groups

Interactive educational excursion «The Great Patriotic war – distant and close».

Duration - 45 minutes

Recommended age – 1-11 school years

Objectives: - to study the history of our own country and the Arkhangelsk region

- to develop public interest to historical events and facts

The excursion is conducted by a guide who wears a military uniform. The story is adapted to the age of the pupils.

Visual materials – copies and photocopies placed on stands, other objective artifacts are laid out on tables and have labels.

The first exhibition stand «War on the front pages».

This page presents the front pages of the newspaper "Pravda of the North" (copies) during the war years. On the pages of the newspapers there are stories about the most important events of the great Patriotic war: Molotov's speech – it was the official announcement of the beginning of the war, the beginning of the siege of Leningrad, battle of Stalingrad and other 20 front pages for the entire period of the war.

Depending on the age of students, we are going to discuss who were the Nazis and why they attacked our country, recollecting the most important battles.

The second exhibition stand «Arkhangelsk oblast during the war».

It reveals several sub-themes:

1. Our fellow countrymen – participants of the great Patriotic war.

2. «Lend-lease – the Northern way».

3. «Rear help front».

We are going to discuss the fighting of our countrymen (where and when), through stories and personal belongings of the war participants, which are presented at the exhibition, children will be able to feel the drama of those days. Then we are going to discuss what was the "lend-lease", which countries were involved in the transportation, routes of sailing ships, what goods they transported, the importance of allied aid. We are going to remind you that the ships carried lumber and other goods on their way back home, we also plan to discuss what kind of products were produced by the enterprises of Arkhangelsk, how they functioned and who worked for them (mostly women and children).

The third stand «Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten!».

After the end of the war searching teams which were looking fo the remains of dead soldiers appeared. Members of the teams (squads) reburied bodies and tried to find out their names. The third stand is supposed to contain photos taken by the search groups, and will present the items discovered during the excavations.

After observing the items and discussing for what purpose they were used, the guide is going to offer to come together and complete the duffel bag. To perform this task special items will be prepared, similar to those represented at the exhibition, additional (odd) items will be offered.

At the end of the tour, the guide will examine the acquired information by asking a few questions. The best student will be rewarded by St. George's ribbon.

  1. The mobile exhibition «The Arkhangelsk region in the Second World War»

This exhibition is expected to be useful as editional education for primary school (Lessons on history).

The goal of the mobile exhibition is to teach elementary students about the role of the Arkhangelsk region in the Second World War. The exhibition should help young people to honor those who have given all for country and freedom and remember the brave men and women who worked hard to bring the freedom to our country.

The excursion will be presented with the help of Power Point and will be told by a professional guide.

T he following museum collection will be used: samples of Soviet and German weapons, Soviet and German helmets, bayonet, binoculars, different rewards, military items of everyday life, photos, military literature, etc. All artifacts are found by researchers, participants of search units on the territory of Karelia and the Arkhangelsk region.

The students will be allowed to try on helmets, to take photos. They will be able to use the moulage of war maps to draw directions of the main attacks of the German and Red army.

The master classes can be conducted for girls and boys. The boys will be offered to load and reload a rifle of Mossin. The girls will be offered to bandage a wound.

T he museum collection and presentation will help visitors to get the better understanding of the events of the war years and will offer visitors an opportunity to experience the war through the eyes of the men and women who lived it.

The excursion will be divided in to several blocks:

  • the heroic feat of the northerners in their battles for their homeland;

  • Navy in the protection of the White Sea and its participation in the Lend-Lease;

  • Partisan movement in the North;

  • The help of the rear to front.

At the end of excursion will be asked control questions in the form of a questionnaire.
