NATIVE CITY, OTHER CITYES OF KAZAKHSTAN
My native city is Ust-Kamenogorsk. I have been living here for 15 years and have a lot of recollections connected with this city. It’s the bigest city of west region. There are simple population of 320000 peaple. Id like to name some sights like Imperator, Vita, Metallurg, Ethnopark , sport comlex and etc. My faivorite place is Marven. It’s a small shop which is located in CUM.
That shop is very universal in buying different things. For example many toys for young children, game disk for computer, and cool sweets. What about other citys. In Kazakhastan are 2 main towns; Almaty and Astana.
Almaty it’s the largest megacity of Kazakhstan. Its a scientific educational, cultural and economic, banking and manufacturing center of the country. And Astana it’s a modern city that is attractive for tourists and comfortable for residents. Also it’s a capital of Kazakhstan. So Kazakhstan it’s a very modern city, which don’t stay behind.

Express your opinion about a perfomance you have attended
To many people, attending a live perfomance, such as a melodrama, a concert or a sporting event is so incredibly attractive that they will go all out to get a ticket, regardless of the expense of the difficultly involved. In a live perfomance, you will feel that you are in the company of many friends, who are indulged in the same interest, who can share your sorrow of pleasure or excitement.
I want to tell you about a perfomance I have attended on the spring holiday. There was an audience of 50 people in Palace for creative pupil. It was a children perfomance. There was a kind madician, a evil queen with her assistants and a selfish girl. The girl came into the hands of evil queen, but her faithful friends saved her life and showed what a real friendship was.
This perfomance was fantastic. During the action on the stage I felt what the kindness was and I remembered my childhood. I liked the acting and the stage design. I would like visit some more perfomance. My classmates played the parts of a doll and kind magician. After the perfomance the audiens applauded for sometime. The actors sang songs and the sound was clear. I enjoed the show very much.

American and British English
English is spoken in many countries either as the mother tongue or as a second language. There are many variations of the language. I’ll focus on the two mostly commonly used versions of English — British and American English.
I think that the American version of spoken English is becoming more and more dominant for several reasons. Let me give you an example to show why American English has a stronger impact on British English than vice versa.
When you go to the UK and switch on the TV you will see a lot of American shows, movies and films which, of course, are shown in the American version. Thus, especially young people watching TV will learn a lot of American vocabulary and phrases which they easily internalize and use as their own. Thus, modern British English is much more likely to be influenced by American English.
Another area where American English dominates is international business. Most globally operating companies are based in the US and hence the influence of American English terminology is very strong.
As for differences in spelling, British English has a tendency to keep the spelling of many words of French origin whereas Americans try to spell more closely to the way they pronounce words and they remove letters not needed. Here are some examples:
British English |
American English |
centre |
center |
theatre |
Theater |
realise |
Realize |
catalogue |
Catalog |
programme |
Program |
travelled |
Traveled |
neighbour |
neighbor |
grey |
gray |
to practise (verb) |
to practice (verb) |
practice (noun) |
practice (verb) |
cheque |
check (noun) |
There are plenty of examples of words that are different in the American and British English.
E.g.
American English |
British English |
truck |
lorry |
fall |
autumn |
sidewalk |
pavement |
gasoline |
petrol |
parking lot |
car park |
Candy eraser |
Sweets rubber |
There are some differences in grammar and pronunciation as well. So,American English and British English have some similarities but are very different forms of the English language. The UK speaks a very formal version of the English language and the American version of the language is very informal. The dialects of the two versions of the language are also very different.
