Task 9. Paraphrase the sentences using the vocabulary of the text “Why Don’t You Get a Proper Job?”
They don’t use such word combinations as “a job for life”. 2. Today’s 14 and 15-year-olds are not interested in blind-alley and secure employment that is monotonous but settles the accounts. 3. My guidance counselors were shocked by my plans to take to literature. 4. The global economy is harsh to yesterday’s hardworking and reliable employee. 5. This is what they need to know if they are to plan their future life. 6. A bit of optimism can be a counterpoison to the constant criticism. 7. The best thing for parents is to forget all the advice and come into your teenager’s world. 8. You see with half an eye how important it is to learn how to be free, quick-witted and cheerful. 9. Their belief in rigid career paths was reasonable. 10. The future rests on smart people who are quick-witted, arrogant and can be proactive.
