When to conduct a performance dataset check
When first changing to ECDIS as primary means of navigation – results sent to vessel control group.
When a new set of performance datasets are issued by IHO – results sent to IHO and vessel control group.
Once every 3 months – results sent to vessel control group.
On each occasion when the ECDIS software is subsequently upgraded – results sent to vessel control group.
Action when non–compliant results are returned during the checks
In the event of unexpected results/results contrary to those detailed in the IHO instructions for running the checks immediate actions are to be taken to correct the deficiencies. In the case of the first run of a new dataset issued by the IHO the results are to be sent to the IHO as instructed in their instructions. The management office vessel control group is to be informed immediately and the manufacturer contacted for guidance. Often an unexpected result can be returned due to a user setting input to the ECDIS and is easily corrected by changing that input.
3.8.24Required paper charts when full ecdis
The following paper charts are required to be carried on board regardless if vessel is full ECDIS.
SC01 - Suez Canal - Edition 1, dated 15th July 2015*
SC02 - Suez Canal - Edition 1, dated 15th July 2015*
*Issued by Egyptian Navy Hydrographic Department and Suez Canal Authorities to replace the existing UKHO coverage (ADMIRALTY Chart 233).
The authorities have advised that, with effect from 6th August 2015, no vessel will be permitted to transit the Suez Canal without the above charts being on-board.
