Чтение гласных в закрытом положении I

При закрытом положении I возможны два случая:

1) слово оканчивается на одну или более согласных (любые, кроме r) в односложных словах, например: men, desk;

2) за ударной гласной могут следовать две или более согласных (кроме r) в многосложных словах, например: number, extra и т. д. Все гласные в закрытом положении I передают краткие звуки [i], [e], [æ] и другие.

Буква а в закрытом положении I передает звук [æ]. Чтобы произнести этот звук, надо прижать кончик языка к нижним зубам и опустить нижнюю челюсть. Звук похож на первый гласный в русском слове мята [æ].

Исключение: have [hæv].
