Technoparks.

Technology parks first appeared at American Universities. Similar formations in Soviet Russia were called academic towns. In modern Russia the demand for such parks is growing with every year.

The first technopark appeared in the US in early 50s. It was launched by Stanford University, California, which gave a start to the famous Silicon Valley.

Europe saw first technology parks in early 70s – Heriot-Watt University Research Centre in Edinburgh. In 80s such business communities at universities were created in Canada, India, Japan.

In Soviet Russia, technoparks emerged in early 90s, for example Tomsk Science and Technology Park. Today, Russia has the world’s forth largest number of Science and Technology Parks, for example Technology Center at Kurchatovsky Institute Science Center and Technopark-Zelenograd. Technopark – Zelenograd unites under its roof about 40 companies. The main lines of their activity are environmentally safe energy source development.

In early 2003 at the suggestion of Moscow government there was launched a project on creation of a technopark on the site of the former Zelenograd acration plant. The world’s largest complex of offices for small and medium businesses with its will be bild in nagatino.
