Inner Fairing Removal

_• Remove:

Center Fairings (see Center Fairing Removal)

Mounting Screws [A] Inner Fairing [B]

Inner Fairing Installation

_• Tighten the mounting screws.

Torque - Front Turn Signal Light Mounting Screws: 1.2 N·m (0.12 kgf·m, 11 in·lb)

_• Install the center fairings (see Center Fairing Installation).

Side Covers

Side Cover Removal

_• Remove the seat (see Seat Removal).

_• Remove the bolt [A].

_• Pull the side cover [B] evenly outward to clear the stop-

pers.

Side Cover Installation

_• Insert the tabs [A] into the holes [B].

_• Tighten the bolt.

_• Install the seat (see Seat Installation).

Seat Covers

Seat Cover Removal

_• Remove:

Seat (see Seat Removal)

Bolts [A]

Grab Rails [B] (Other than United States and Canada Models)

Screw Rivets [C]

_• Push the central pin, and then remove the quick rivets [A].

_• Pull the front and rear portions of the seat cover outside,

and then remove the seat covers.

Seat Cover Installation

_• Installation is the reverse of removal.

_• Put the projection [A] into the grommet [B] on the rear

fender rear.

_• Put the projection [A] into the hole [B] of the seat cover.

_• Install:

Grab Rails (Other than United States and Canada Mod-

els) and Bolts

Torque - Grab Rail Mounting Bolts: 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m, 18 ft·lb)

_• Insert the projections [A] of the center seat cover into the holes [B] of the side seat cover.

_• Install:

Screw Rivets

Seat (see Seat Installation)

Fenders

Front Fender Removal

_• Remove:

Brake Hose Clamps [A]

Bolts [B] with Collar (Both Side)

_• Remove the front fender [C].

Front Fender Installation

_• Tighten:

Torque - Front Fender Bolts: 3.9 N·m (0.40 kgf·m, 35 in·lb)

_• Install the brake hose clamps to the front fender holes.

Flap and Rear Fender Rear Removal

_• Remove:

Seat (see Seat Removal)

Seat Covers (see Seat Cover Removal)

Tail/Brake Light [A] (see Tail/Brake Light Removal in the Electrical System chapter)

_• Remove:

Nuts [A] and Bolts [B]

Flap (with License Plate Light)

_• Remove:

Seat Lock Cable Lower End [A]

Quick Rivet [B]

_• Free the clamps from the rear fender rear.

_• Pull out the rear fender rear backward and downward.

Flap and Rear Fender Rear Installation

_• Installation is the reverse of removal.

Fenders

Rear Fender Front Removal

_• Remove:

Rear Fender Rear (see Flap and Rear Fender Rear Re-

moval)

Battery (see Battery Removal in the Electrical System chapter)

Relay Box (see Relay Box Removal in the Electrical Sys- tem chapter)

Starter Relay (see Starter Relay Inspection in the Elec- trical System chapter)

_• Remove the fuse box from the rear fender front.

_• Remove:

Bolt [A]

Clamp [B]

_• Free the clamp from the rear fender front.

_• Remove the rear fender front [A] backward and upward.

Rear Fender Front Installation

_• Installation is the reverse of removal.

_• Install the removed parts (see appropriate chapters).

Frame

Frame Inspection

_• Visually inspect the frame for cracks, dents, bending or warp.
