Interaction pattern: Groupwork

Aim: To give freer practice in grammar (Past Simple in active and passive voice, Conditionals 3 type) using new vocabulary.

Grammar and functions: to practice grammar (Past Simple in active and passive voice, Conditionals 3 type) and vocabulary (journeys).

Procedure:

Have you ever travelled abroad/ to the other cities? Think of your best/worst trip.

Imagine you are on TV, the programme is called “Journeys I’ll Never Forget”.

Is this programme about spoilt journeys? Is it about nice journeys?

Here everybody shares their stories. While telling your story you’d better say 2-3 false facts which others should guess. The best story-teller and the person who guesses more false facts are the winners, awarded with the journey of their dream.

Be ready to tell the others about your journey and say what you would have changed if it had been possible.

Don’t forget to say about

  • The place

  • The time you were there

  • Who you were with

  • The weather

  • Activities you did there

  • The length of your journey

  • What you liked/disliked

  • What you would change next time

Others listen, guess false facts, choose the story they liked best and explain why.

Target language: Vocabulary on the topic Environmental Problems, giving advice.

Interaction pattern: Groupwork

Procedure:

There are many environmental organizations nowadays. What are they? What is their purpose? Can we do anything ourselves to improve the environment? Brainstorm ideas.

Work in groups. Discuss all the variants and present your ideas in 5 min.

The first group presents, the second - adds only the ideas haven’t been mentioned.

Make a conclusion.

Interaction pattern: Group work

Aim: To give a description of sport according to the plan using new vocabulary.

Grammar and functions: to practice grammar (modals must, needn’t) and vocabulary (sport).

Procedure:

1.What kinds of sport do you know? (revision p.121)

Work in groups. Invent a new sport of any kind and describe it according to the plan:

  • Name of sport

  • Equipment necessary

  • Special training

  • Age group

  • Main rules

  • What you must/needn’t do to be successful in this sport (p.121)

Choose the sport you’d like to try, explain your choice.

Target language: Vocabulary on the topic Sport, giving arguments, making conclusion.
