5. Прямые и косвенные дополнения

The girl is giving		the book	to Tom.
(1) The girl is giving	him	the book.

Оба варианта дополнений можно использовать с глаголами to bring, to give, to lend, to mail, to offer, to pay, to read, to sell, to send, to show, to teach, to tell, to write.

She offers me wonderful coffee.

She offers wonderful coffee to me.

Если прямое дополнение выражено местоимением, можно использовать только вариант (2).

She offers it to me.

С глаголами to describe, to explain, to prove, to return, to say, to suggest можно использовать только вариант (2).

I described that place to her.

She proved it to us.

TEXT 1

When I studied at Maritime College I lived in Odessa. My flat was at 25 Pushkinskaya Street. My flat was small but very nice. There was one room in the flat. There were two chairs, a table and a sofa in the room. There was a picture on the wall. On the floor there was a carpet. I liked my small flat very much.

There was a café on the corner of Pushkinskaya and Bazarnaya Streets. I often visited it. I drank coffee and ate sandwiches there every day. I met very nice girl in that café. She worked there. When I came she brought me a cup of coffee and then we talked.

When I left Odessa I missed her.
