Tom & Jerry
Age Group: 4-12 years
Game Objective: A entertaining kids camp game that makes them learn how animals hunt for their food daily.
Game Learning: Patience, alertness and persistence.
No. of Players: 10 or more
Materials Required:
Some juice bottles.
Some blindfolds.
How to Play:
Make two teams.
One team is called “Tom” and other is called “Jerry”.
Make a circle large enough such that all the players can freely accommodate in that.
Blindfold the team Tom and make them stand in a scattered pattern in the circle.
The legs of Tom should be wide open such that a bottle of juice can easily be placed between them.
Tom must stand stationary and cannot move their legs.
Now, team Jerry will quietly enter the circle and their objective is to steal all the juice bottles from team Tom without alerting them.
While doing so if Tom suspects that Jerry is close by and trying to steal the bottle, he will point exactly in the same direction and shout “Jerry” to tag him.
If Tom is correct then Jerry is “Out”.
Tom will get 2 chances to call correctly and if he is incorrect in his 3rd call he will be Out and that juice bottle will be given to the nearest Jerry.
Tom can also move his hand around standing at his place in order to tag Jerry.
If team Jerry is successful in stealing all the juice bottles…they WIN!
If team Tom is successful is tagging all the Jerrys before that…they WIN this amazing kids camp game.
Hail Storm
Age Group: 9-12 years
Game Objective: A typical summer camp game for kids that would make kids go crazy and a little drenched.
Game Learning: Catching
No. of Players: At least 12 kids. More the better!
Materials Required:
Lots of white sponge balls.
Some empty juice bottles and soda cans.
A big bucket full of water.
A red marking tape.
A clothesline.
Some full sized bed sheets.
Some clothe clips.
How to Play:
Tie the clothesline between two trees at a reasonable height, say 6 feet.
Create a temporary wall by hanging the bed sheets on the clothesline side by side.
The wall width should be at least 15 to 18 feet.
The bed sheets should touch the ground level completely.
Use clothe clips to hold the sheets together and seal any visible gaps.
On one side of the wall, make a square considering the wall as one of its sides i.e. if the virtual wall is 18 feet wide then, the square will be of 18 x 18 feet.
On the other side of the wall make a semi circle taking the wall as its diameter.
Mark them with the marker tape.
Appoint an adult scorekeeper.
Make two teams and let them take their sides opposite to each other.
Both the teams should not be visible to each other and must stay within their boundaries.
Give a large bucket full of water with lots of soaked sponge balls in it to the side standing on the semi circle side of the wall.
Also give some other items like empty soda cans and plastic juice bottles to the same team.
The game starts with the score keeper yelling “Hail Storm!”
The kids on the semi circle side will start tossing the sponge balls and other stuff over the other side of the wall, one by one or simultaneously.
The kids on the other side of the wall (square side) must run around within the square to catch all the showering items.
The kids catching the sponge balls etc must stuff them in their pockets or inside their shirts. Any fallen item cannot be picked up again.
The sponge balls that have fallen outside the square boundary cannot be touched.
This will continue till all the items have been exhausted by the throwing team.
The score keeper will total the score. Every item caught will add one point, every item dropped within the square boundary will deduct one point and any item landed outside the boundary will give two bonus points to the catching team.
Teams will change sides and other side will now get the chance to do the catching and accumulate points.
Once both the side’s turn is over, score keeper will tally the scores and the side with more points WINS this cool kids camp game!
My Tip :
This kids camp game can also be played as a fun water game between neighbors on a hot sunny day. If you have a common wall that’s good, otherwise, use the same technique to make your own virtual wall and get going… Get drenched with kids and beat the heat!
