Indications

For dissolving bladder stones in 1he kidneys and urinary passage in case of demonstrated negative stone opacity on X-ray picture and permanently existing acid urine (pH value below 5.5).

For prevention of the calculi formation in the kidneys and urinary passage.

To patients with a known history of uric acid and mixed calculi discharge; after lithotomy, if the urine is not infected. It can be used as an adjunct to penicillinamine D therapy in case of cystine stones. For combined treatment with allopurinol in case of increased serum uric acid level.

Side-effects

Transitory gastrointestinal complaints may occur, due to individual hypersensitivity. Side-effects are usually not as severe as to necessitate interruption of treatment

CCNTRADICATIONS

Magurlit is contraindicated in case of infected, alkaline urine. Due to its high sodium and potassium content, it should not be administered to patients suffering from circulatory failure.

DOSAGE

Dosage should be established individually. The average initial dose for adults is 6 to 8 g daily, divided into three portions, i.e. 1 sachet (2 g) early in the morning, 1 sachet at noon after meal and 1 or 2 sachets late in the evening. The content of the sachets should be swallowed with some liquid without breaking up! Thereafter the dosage should be adjusted according to pH value of the urine, which should not exceed the value of 6.2 to 6.7, measured before taking the drug every morning, noon and evening with the enclosed indicator paper and control colour scale. Usually the initial average doses proved to be sufficient to provide and to maintain the adequate reaction (pH 62 to 6.7). The average doses may be increased or reduced gradually until the desired effect is achieved.
