Text: Science and technology
Grammar: Present Continuous, Special questions
Text.1.Science and technology Science and technology play an important part in our life. Scientists investigate the laws of the universe, discover the secrets of nature, and apply their knowledge in practice improving the life of people. As the years go forward a lot of new things appear, our mind develops and it cannot stop.
Many centuries ago people even couldn’t imagine that we will be able to exchange information using telephone, fax, Internet as long as they couldn’t think that there are a lot of planets except our earth and that people can fly their. Sometimes we don’t think about the inventions and their role in our everyday life, because we can’t imagine our life without radio and television, without electricity and central heating. During the centuries people tried to invent things to make our life easier.
A great invention such as transport plays one of most important roles in our life. We live in flats, can appear in different parts of earth within a day, can say hello to people who live in another part of the world. All those things are a product of technical progress and it doesn’t stop to grow and develop.
During the 20th century a great amount of inventions and discoveries had been made.
First of all it was the atomic age due to the discovery of the splitting of the atom.
Then it became the age of the conquest of space , because finally a man overcame the gravity and entered the Universe.
And now we live in the information era when the computer connects not only the countries and space stations but a lot of people all over the world. And from day to day appear more end more new things. And we don’t think about how the firs inventions were created. The only thing we know we never will return to the life which people lived a lot of centuries ago because there is no way back. Vocabulary to learn:
