III. Translate the following sentences from Russian into English.

1. Что ты думаешь об этом фильме? - Он скучноват. 2. О чем ты думаешь? — Я думаю о своем будущем. 3. В котором часу закрывается магазин? — В восемь часов вечера. 4. —Когда начинается спектакль? — В семь часов вечера. — Как называется спектакль? — «Отелло» по Шекспиру. 5. Какие товары экспортирует ваша страна? Наша страна только импортирует. 6. Над чем вы смеетесь? — Том рассказал нам смешную историю.

IV. Open the brackets, using verbs in Present Perfect or Past Simple.

V. Put the verbs in brackets into the Past Simple or the Past Continuous tense.

1. Why you (interrupt) me just now? I (have) a very interesting conversation with Mr Pitt. 2. The murderer (carry) the corpse down the stairs when he (hear) a knock on the door. 3. VI. Put the verbs in brackets into the Present Perfect or the Present Perfect Continuous tense.

1. The driver (drink). I think someone else ought to drive. 2. I (pull) up 100 dandelions. 3. I (pull) up dandelions all day. 4. What you (do)? ~ We (pick) apples. 5. How many you (pick)? ~

We (pick) ten basketfuls. 6. I (sleep) on every bed in this house and I don't like any of them. 7. He (sleep) since ten o'clock. It's time he woke up.

VII. Translate the following sentences from Russian into English.

1. — Вы работали на этом заводе три года тому назад? — Я работаю там четыре года. 2. — Вы просмотрели вчера эти документы? — Я только что просмотрел их. 3. Мы ужинали, когда моя старшая сестра вернулась из университета. 4. Где ты встретил Анну? — Я встретил ее около библиотеки, когда возвращался домой. 5. Кто купил подарок для Джейн? — Ник. 6. Сколько писем вы напечатали вчера? — Около двадцати.

VIII. Put the following into the Passive Voice. Do not mention the agent unless it seems necessary.

1. Dogs guard the warehouse. The other day a thief tried to get in and a dog saw him and chased him. (A thief who . . .) 2. The watchman called the police. The police arrested the man. 3. Tom had only a slight injury and they helped him off the field; but Jack was seriously injured and they carried him off on a stretcher. (Tom, who had … , but Jack, who was . . .) 4. You can't wash this dress; you must dry-clean it. 5. They are demolishing the entire block. 6. He recommends fitting new tyres. (Use should) 7. We had to give the books back; they did not allow us to take them home.
