THE SIMPLE PROGRESSIVE & PRESENT SIMPLE

Упражнение 1. Выберите нужную форму глагола в скобках (Present Progressive or Simple Present)

  1. Vegetarians are people who doesn’t eat meat.

  2. Look out! My husband is coming.

  3. Some people still think the sun goes round the earth.

  4. I play tennis every weekend.

  5. Who is sitting in my chair?

  6. An alcoholic is a person who drinks too much and can’t stop.

  7. What are you looking at? “A strange bird”.

  8. We usually stay with Peggy when we go to Chicago.

  9. Nobody gets up early for fun.

  10. Not many passenger planes fly faster than sound.

Упражнение 2. Поставьте глагол в нужное время (Present Progressive or Present Simple)

  1. I think he’s away.

  2. You know what I mean.

  3. We always start at nine.

  4. While the butter is melting you take three eggs and break them into a bowl.

  5. I am thinking about your father.

  6. Scientists believe the weather changes.

  7. I don’t see what the problem is.

THE PAST PROGRESSIVE AND PAST SIMPLE TENSE

Упражнение 3. Закончите предложения, употребив“did, was, were”.

  1. Were you working when I rang?

No, I wasn’t.

  1. Did you see me on television?

Yes, I did.

  1. What were you doing when they arrived?

I was reading the paper.

  1. Were they working hard?

No, they weren’t.

  1. Was she crying when you saw her?

Yes, she was.

  1. Did they speak to you when you met?

No, they didn’t.

  1. Peter was still lying in bed so he didn’t hear the doorbell.

  2. Did the police find the man?

No, they didn’t.

He was hiding in an empty building.

  1. I was looking for some photos when you rang but I didn’t find them.

Упражнение 4. Закончите предложения, употребив глаголы в Past Progressive или Past Simple.

  1. They were waiting for me when I arrived at the station (wait/arrive).

  2. She was swimming in the sea when I saw her (swim/see).

  3. Were they playing tennis when it started raining?(play/start).

  4. She was crying when she heard the news (cry/hear).

  5. We were driving home from the theatre when the police stopped us. (drive/stop)

  6. Everyone went quiet when the concert was beginning. (go/begin).

  7. When she left him, he was becoming quite ill. (leave/become)

  8. You were working in a restaurant when I first met you (work/meet).

  9. I felt very angry when I was reading the letter (feel/read).

  10. It was raining when I got(rain/get).

Упражнение 5. Постройте предложения, поставив глагол в скобках в форму Present Perfect

Упражнение 6. Закончите предложения, употребив приведенные

ниже глаголы в форме Present Perfect

  1. ‘Can I have this newspaper?’ ‘Yes, I’ve finished with it.

  2. I have bought some new shoes. Do you want to see them?

  3. ‘Where is Liz’ ‘She has gone out’.

  4. I’m looking for Paula. Have you seen her?

  5. Look! Somebody has broken that window.

  6. ‘Does Lisa know that you’re going away?’ ‘Yes, I have told her.’

  7. I can’t find my umbrella. Somebody has taken it.

  8. I’m looking for Sarah. Where has she gone?

  9. I know that woman but I have forgotten her name.

  10. Sue is having a party tonight. She has invited a lot of people.

  11. What are you going to do? Have you decided?

  12. ‘Where are my glasses?’ ‘I don’t know. I haven’t seen them.’

Упражнение 7. Закончите предложения, вставив already (I’ve already…) or yet (He hasn’t…yet) (They haven’t…yet)

  1. MARK: Let’s go to the new SpielmaN exibition at the Modern Art Museum.

JANE: I’ve already seen it. It’s not very good. (see)

  1. DAVID: Don’t forget to tell Mary the good news.

LIZ: I have already told and she was very happy.(tell)

  1. SUE: What does John say in his letter?
