Методичні вказівки укладено відповідно до програми, містять лексичний та граматичний матеріал з теми "Hardware and Software".

Призначені для студентів другого курсу Інституту заочного та дистанційного навчання спеціальностей 8.091501 "Комп'ютерні системи та мережі", 8.080401 "Системи управління і автоматики" та 8.080403 "Програмне забезпечення автоматизованих систем".

ЗАГАЛЬНІ МЕТОДИЧНІ ВКАЗІВКИ

Програма з іноземної мови для студентів ІЗДН передбачає систематизацію знань з граматики та засвоєння лексичного мінімуму з фаху.

Методичні вказівки включають тексти та інший інформаційний матеріал, завдання тренувального, творчого та комунікативного характеру з теми "Computer Hardware and Software", призначеної для вивчення студентами II курсу ІЗДН спеціальностей 8.09150 Г'Комп'ютсрні системи і мережі", 8.080403"Програмне забезпечення автоматизованих систем" та 8.0SG >0і"Систе,\'и управління і автоматики" у І семестрі.

Засвоєння навчального англомовного матеріалу дозволить студентам розуміти оригінальну літературу зі спеціальності, вести бесіду з названої тематики.

Кожен варіант контрольної роботи складається з 6 завдань та включає в себе текстовий матеріал з теми. Завдання містять роботу з лексикою тексту, з їх допомогою контролюють вміння перекладати англомовний текст, перевіряють граматичні знання форм дієслова, категорій часу, стану а також структури питальних речень (п'ять видів питань), виявляють розуміння тексту та вміння відповідати на поставлені питання.

Під час зимової сесії студент виконує письмово один з варіантів контрольної роботи в аудиторії. Номер варіанта визначає викладач. На письмове виконання аудиторної контрольної роботи приділяється дві години. Зараховані контрольні роботи є учбовим документом і допуском до складання заліку.

Крім цього, до кінця навчального року студент має прочитати та зробити переклад семи сторінок позааудиторного читання.

Computers

A computer is a very specific kind of counting machine. It can do arithmetic problems faster than any person alive. By means of electric processes it can find answers to a very difficult and complicated problem in a few seconds.

There are different kinds of computers. Some can do only one job. These are special-purpose computers. Each specific problem requires a specific computer. One kind of a computer can help us build a plane another kind can help us navigate it. A special-purpose computer is built for this purpose alone and cannot do anything else.

But there are some computers that can do many different jobs. They are called general-purpose computers. Every computer incorporates hardware and software. Hardware includes machinery and devices and software includes systems and programs. The most important parts of a computer are as follows: 1) memory, where information is kept; 2) an arithmetic logic unit for performing calculations; 3) a control unit for the correct order of operations; 4) input devices; 5) output devices for displaying the results of calculations. The input and output devices are called peripherals.

There are several advantages in making computers small. Sometimes weight is particularly important. A modern plane carries a lot of heavy electronic equipment. If it is possible to make any of them smaller, it can carry a bigger weight. But weight is not the only factor. The smaller the computer, the faster it can work. The signals go to and from at a very high but almost constant speed.

Personal Computer

A personal computer (PC) is a collection of separate items working together as a team. The common word for these items is hardware. Some of these components are essential; others simply make working more pleasant and efficient. Extra items expand the variety of tasks you can accomplish with your machine. Here are the main parts of your computer.

Monitor works like a television, displaying text characters and graphics. The image you see on the screen is made up of tiny dots called pixels.

The main elements of a computer are contained in the system unit. All the electronic components and integrated circuits are mounted on a fiberglass sheet inside called the motherboard.

Pressing a key on your keyboard causes an electrical signal to be sent down the cable to the system unit. The typical keyboard supplied with today's PCs has either 101 keys (US) or 102 (Europe).

Portable floppy disks, either 5 1/4 or 3 1/2 inches in diameter, allow data to be moved easily from machine to machine. Floppy disks must be kept in a storage box to keep them clean and away from magnetic fields.

A mouse is a hand-held pointing device that allows you to control your computer without having to type in instructions on the keyboard. It operates with the mouse pad.

A printer is essential for producing hard copies of documents you create with your computer.
