2 Practical part
2.1 The opinion polls: “The use of the word “selfie” and frequency of making “selfie” in school , 7 in Orsha
In order to prove our hypothesis: topicality of the using of the word “selfie” and making “selfie” we’ve made a research in our school. We asked pupils from different forms (3-11) some questions:
1. Have you ever heard the word “selfie”?
2. Could you give a definition of the word “selfie”?
3. How often do you take a “selfie”?
The results shows the statistics of the use of the word “selfie” and statistics of making “selfie” in school 7, in Orsha. Appendices 1 We can see that after form 5-6 almost every pupil know the meaning of this word when pupils in form 3-4 haven’t heard about this. What concerns 3d question. We have found the rise of the frequency of making “selfie” in form 5-11. Pupils of form 7-8 make it every week and every month more often than the pupils of form 9-11, which make “selfie” every day more often than others.
According to the results we can say that the using of the word “selfie” and making “selfie” are very actual in our school and approximately in our country as in others in the world.
Conclusion
We have found out that pupils of our school make selfies and know about this word “selfie”. We have found out the Oxford definition of this word and it was close to our ideas about it. So in these parts hypothesis is proved. “Selfie” is a tool of communication and makes our life easier but there are wrong ways to take selfies. Some psychologists say that “selfies” promote narcissism and a preoccupation with oneself or low self-esteem. Making selfies many people breaks the rule of privacy and morality. Some psychologists say 25% of all selfies are sexy-selfie at some point. Such “selfies” can cause damaging effects on marriage and dating, parenting, and even work relationships. So the next time you post a photo of yourself online or send one to your friends, think twice.
If “selfie” is just a new modern way of communication, what’s your “selfie” really saying about you?
