Ex.3. Open the brackets. Use the Future Indefinite Passive.

Ex.4 .Open the brackets. Use the Present Continuous Passive.

Ex.5 . Open the brackets. Use the Past Continuous Passive.

Ex.6 . Open the brackets. Use the Present Perfect Passive.

1. Mary is proud. Her work (to praise). 2. — What’s happened? — The window (to break). 3. Jane (not to tell) about it. 4. Many new buildings (to build) in our town lately. 5. Ex.7 . Open the brackets. Use the Past Perfect Passive.

1. All the tickets already (to sell out) by the time John and Mary arrived.

2. When I returned home my wife told me that all the things already (to pack) and they were ready to start. 3. The room (to prepare) for the Hunts but they didn’t come. 4. I had a letter from my sister some days ago. She wrote she (to accept) to college. 5. By 5 o’clock the experiment already (to complete). 6. They realized that the telegram (not to receive).

Ex.8. Transform from Active into Passive where appropriate.

Model: 1) My sister had a baby. (a passive form would be inappropriate)

2) John opened the door. The door was opened by John.

  1. The police questioned George.

  2. My sister married Paul last year.

  3. One of the most famous painters in the world painted this landscape.

  4. Kate asked the policeman for the way to the station.

  5. We didn’t come home late last night.

  6. The nanny took the children to the zoo yesterday.

  10. The letter arrived a few days ago.
